Abstract
A four-element phased array transmitter is developed for wireless power transfer at 2.4 GHz. The transmitting beam is formed by the radiation patterns of four patch antennas. The measured gain of the phased array antenna at the angle of 0 degrees is 8.9 dBi with a 3-dB beamwidth of 21 degrees. The beam can be steered from +45° to -45°, achieving a minimum resolution of 1 degree, with the phase shift control of 4 digital bits on the individual RF phase shifter. The maximum equivalent isotropically radiated power is about 38 dBm.
