Abstract
THESIS ABSTRACT
The Strategic Selection Reference Model for Implementing ERP Related Information System in Shopping Mall
The business challenge for an enterprise is huge and the environment is changing rapidly. To sustain a continuous growth, thinking of implementing an ERP related information system becomes a common topic for the management team. A well deployed ERP related information system can help the enterprise run its business process and operation smoothly, the well-known integrated system functionality can provide the computerized transactions and essential management reports for supporting the regular business operation running more efficient.
An ERP system implementation is a tough and complicated project. It needs to effectively combine the domain knowledge, management experience, and the information technology, plus the rigorous project management, to ensure the project success. Thus a thorough plan and strategy based on the specific situation of the enterprise to come out a vendor and solution selection criteria in order to choose the most suitable solution partner for the information system implementation becomes very important, which may lead the project in a high percentage successful rate.
The major focus of the ERP systems, both in academic research and practical applications, are in the manufacturing related fields. There are not many discussions or researches of the ERP systems which apply to the retail business, especially for the Shopping Mall. This study is based on a real case research of the ERP system implementation for Global Mall Shopping Center, together with the literature reviews and analysis, to come out a reference model of strategic selection criteria in implementing the ERP system for the shopping mall related retailing business.
The study includes the following main items:
1. Understand the Shopping Mall and its overall
status in Taiwan Market.
2. Understand the ERP systems and its applications
in Shopping Mall.
3. Based on the sources from the real case and
literature studies, do a systematic analysis to
conclude a reference model of the strategic
selection criteria for Shopping Mall ERP related information system implementation.
4. Apply this reference model to the real case
studies, presenting applicable recommendation
and conclusion.
