Abstract
Applying a centrifugal clutch into a hybrid power system is a good approach to automatically switch between different power sources. The system is the simplest one which satisfies basic functions. But because of improper design and configuration, the power-switching process had failed to proceed during the realization of the system. The purpose of this study is to design and analysis the configuration of a hybrid power motorcycle which applied a centrifugal clutch as well as to analyze the numerical simulation result during the power-switching process of the hybrid power motorcycle. In the research, firstly, the mathematical models of both the centrifugal clutch and vehicle are established. Secondly, the hybrid system which can achieve adequate functions is chosen according to the “functional power graph”, and the mathematical model and arrangement method of the system is also established. Finally, the power-switching process of the hybrid system with different configurations of centrifugal clutches is simulated by means of numerical analysis method. The arrangement condition of the system is revealed by analyzing the influences of adjusting each variable. In this study, the proper arrangement and requirement of the hybrid power motorcycle applying a centrifugal clutch has been completely analyzed, and the influences of adjusting variables has been concluded. The result of this study could be a considerable consultation for further research in hybrid power motorcycles.
