Abstract
The coordination chemistry of a tripodal phosphine thioether, 2,2-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)-1-phenylthiopropane (P2S), towards FeII, NiII, PdII, PtII, CoII, RhI was investigated. The ligand reacts with CpFe(CO)2I, NiCl2, PdCl2(CH3CN)2, K2PtCl4, CoCl2,[(NBD)RhCl]2 and (NBD)2RhBF4[NBD = 2,5-norbornadiene] to give the respective complexes. The tripodal ligand behaves as tridentate in [(P,P′,S-P2S)FeCp]PF6 and [(P,P′,S-P2S)Rh(NBD)]BF4, but as bidentate in the other complexes. Crystal structures of [P,P′,S-(P2S)FeCp]PF6 (2a) and [P,P′,S-(P2S)]NiI2 (5) have been determined. © 1993.
