Abstract
A conference-key establishment method helps conference participants construct a common session key. The session key is used to encrypt or decrypt sensitive messages transmitted among the participants over an open channel. One of the conference-key establishment methods allows all participants to construct a conference-key jointly. This method is surnamed conference-key agreement. In this thesis, we propose a conference-key agreement protocol with fault-tolerance capability. The protocol is designed for conference applications on mobile devices. On account of the resource constrains, these applications usually hold the conference among a small group that has no more than ten entities. Therefore, the protocol is expected to be light- weighted and can dynamically respond to the changes of conference membership. We implement the protocol on Google Android mobile devices and conduct a realistic evaluation on the protocol’s performance. By our analysis and implementation, not only does the proposed protocol show great performance in comparison with several existing protocols, but also serve more security criteria.
