Abstract
Because the rate of airfreight revenue accounting for of whole revenue increases day by day, airlines regard airfreight as the main revenue source gradually. When the international airlines of our country want to expand airfreight service, they need face the competition with the International Logistics Service Integrators (LSI), like FedEx, UPS, and DHL.
Because the operation angle of LSI is to control the system from the beginning to the end, and its whole set of full service channel and fast service quality has strong competition advantages, it becomes development trend nowadays of airfreight. So the traditional airlines tend to become LSI is an unavoidable trend. Following the development of Global Logistics Management (GLM) trend, traditional airlines should increase competitiveness by way of strategic alliance before they become LSI.
This research probes into how traditional airlines use the way of strategic alliance to become LSI. In addition, this research takes IT industry as the example to analyze and sets up the airfreight logistics breach model of GLM, include accessibility, mobility, and cost. In this study, we use SWOT to draft seventeen estimated items of strategic alliance of the airfreight and use Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchical Process (FAHP) to select eight from them.
The outcome of this research helps us to have the procedure and steps of strategic alliance of the airfreight. The international airlines of our country can use them to estimate how to form a strategic alliance of the airfreight and estimate a formed strategic alliance of the airfreight.
