Abstract
Abstract The motorcycle stop zone and the motorcycle left-turn zone are the part of signalized intersection geometric layout. The motorcycle stop zone could separate the motorcycle flow from the car. While motorcycles stop in the intersection, they stop ahead. The motorcycle has high mobility and low start delay. The motorcycle stop zone could provide motorcycle to stop and reduce the conflict between motorcycles and car to developed the efficiency of intersection. The influence by length of motorcycle stop zone is the main topic of research, the most suitable length could balance the stop space of motorcycle and delay of vehicle behind the motorcycle stop zone. This study observed the influence of the motorcycle stop zone by the model building and simulation. The motorcycle left-turn zone also influence the vehicle flow behind it. In the model, the left-turn motorcycle seems as the independence flow to estimate its delay and stop space. To estimate the delay of left-turn motorcycle, this study created a motorcycle left-turn delay model. The intersection signal model would measure the motorcycles’ delay more correctly This study used the signal model to analyze different composition’s situation of vehicle flow and found the rule of most suitable length of motorcycle stop zone which has the better efficiency. This study compared the layout of real world and the output of the model. Finally, this study built the process of compute the motorcycle stop zone and provide a result to refer in practical.
