Abstract
The purpose this research is to develop a stand-alone PV solar system by
adopting nMPPO design and a 3 phase battery charge control. But in this research,
the Phase II ending time control is modified using a floating time scheme, instead
of fixed 2 hours as used before. The experimental results from a comparative test
outdoors show that the new Phase 2 control scheme can increase charging efficiency
as much as 25 percent in sunny days. The outdoor test shows that the battery
voltage never exceeding 14.1V and the control system can prevent the battery from
overcharging. This will also prolong the battery lifecycle.
