Abstract
Abstract This paper develops a method to analyze the electromagnetic transmission through a slit in a thick conducting screen, which can be inhomogeneously filled or arbitrarily shaped. First, the equivalence principle is used to deduce a generalized network formulation. Then the cavity admittance matrix is obtained from the finite element method, while the radiation admittance matrix is calculated using image theory. Through such a generalized network formulation, we can solve the equivalent magnetic current at the two openings of the slit. Numerical results for the magnetic current and the far field pattern are included.
