Abstract
Supply chain management is one of the most important areas in modern business. In the domain of services operations management, service supply chains are multi-echelon dynamic systems which focus on how collaboration and coordination among supply chain agents can enhance service management and achieve global optimality. Undoubtedly, service supply chain management has become an especially important topic in the big data era, in which the massive amount of data would provide great opportunity to advance it. This chapter discusses, from the system of systems perspective, how the service supply chain can be better managed. We first present the characteristics of service supply chain systems. Then, we discuss why the service supply chain is qualified to be called a system of systems. Afterwards, we highlight some technological elements related to service supply chains and discuss some principles from the system of systems perspective to enhance service supply chain management. Future research directions are proposed. ? 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London, UK.
