Abstract
The Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology, which was listed among the most remarkable techniques in 2003, nowadays has been used in the application of enterprise logistics management worldwide. In the recent years, the US, Japan, Korea, and many other developed countries around the world also focused on the RFID application in construction industry, including material management and schedule control. Simultaneously, its application has become one of the important issues for construction industry development in Taiwan. In order to establish the integrated framework of RFID application, this study attempts to propose a series of developmental strategies for construction industry.
The research results show that the development of construction industry requires several further consolidations: (1) to establish RFID-related laws or guidances, (2) to strengthen international standards, (3) to advance RFID core techniques, and (4) to construct the inspection environment.
Moreover, this study also conducts a feasibility analysis in the application of architectural engineering materials to devise the adequate solutions in RFID construction methods and positions.
