Abstract
Dianella ensifolia(L.) DC., distributed over Fukien, Taiwan, Japan and Aussie, was found below altitude of 1500 meters. Its sap is poisonous. However, the smashed mixture of its stems and roots can be directly used as medicine for treating tinea, it can be further used for treating bruses.
The leaves of Dianella ensifolia(L.) DC. were extrated with methanol. The extract was concentrated in vacuo to yield a residue which was suspended in water, and this phase was partitioned with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate layer was separated by column chromatography on silica gel, preparative thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to give 47 compounds. These compounds are classified to 15 flavonoids, 4 chalcones, 2 chromones, 16 aromatics, 1 lignoids , 7 steroids, and 2 others. Of these, 6 new compounds and 3 compounds isolated for the first time from natural sources
The known compounds were identified by spectral analysis and by comparsion with those reported in literatures or from authentic samples. The structures of new compounds were elucidated by spectral evidence including 1D and 2D NMR techniques.
