Abstract
In recent years, GPS (Global Positioning System) has been gaining popularity gradually with the price becoming more and more reasonable. It is not just like early years that only some professional personnel knew GPS is a well-know technology now. Besides installed in automotive system, it could be seen anywhere like built inside the PDA phone on the market. With this popularity, there are some related applications used in daily life. Driving routes planning is one of the most common applications.
One of the applications is using GPS to write travel notes. Besides traditional article with photos, people can mark the position on the world map if the photo includes location information. It could also get exact geographical information from the map. There are many photo sharing websites providing this service to make people no need to recall strenuously where these photos were taken when writing travel notes.
However, these photos’ properties contain not only position but also time information. It could indicate the routes for traveling. As the website provides the service, it gets the traveling routes information at the same time. We could filter the most frequent traveling routes from a large amount of these photos by using sequential patterns mining.
Therefore, we propose a new GPS application service system which integrates photos with location information, sequential patterns mining and GIS (Geographic Information System) to provide a traveling route suggestion lists. Users could use GPS PDA phone to get the suggestion lists online by accessing the ubiquitous telecommunication networks.
