Abstract
The TFT-LCD industry has grown up for a long time in Taiwan. Since Taiwan is a key position of strategic importance in the notebook and monitor industries and for the strong domestic demand, competitive advantages of TFT-LCD industry are developed compared with other countries and lead it to a bright future. In order to know the whole development of Taiwan TFT-LCD industry through analyzing the market scope of the whole country, the development of technology, and the trend of the appliance product and competitive advantages, following questions are to study: the interaction among the related firms of Taiwan TFT-LCD Industry, and why can the firms in Taiwan enter the TFT-LCD industry? what key technique do they gain? Why can the firms in Korea enter the TFT-LCD industry? What advantages do they have to contend with the firms in Taiwan?inally by analyzing factor conditions, demand conditions, related and supporting industries, key technology, macro environment, the competition between Taiwan and Korea, conclusions are following: the value chain in Taiwan is mature. Taiwan has to make use of the advantage of clusters and vertical integration well. The education and remaining in employment is important. The vertical integration or the division of industry clusters depends on the force of key components. The strategy of firms is similar. Taiwan faces the dilemma of cost-down and upgrading high value added.
