Abstract
This thesis is organized into three parts: (a) an introduction to the theory of Quasi-Phase Matching(QPM), (b) the design and fabrication of two-dimensional periodically poled congruent grown LiTaO3 (2D-PPCLT), and (c) the second harmonic generation(SHG) of QPM-PPCLT for blue laser.
At first, the theory of nonlinear frequency conversion and quasi-phase matching is briefly introduced.
Several fabrication methods, including a thin film coating with photoresist, high permittivity dielectrics, and Ni diffusing are used in characterize of the nonlinear photonics crystals poling properties. Combine the advantage of field suppression by Ni diffusion high permittivity dielectrics. 500μm-thick 2D-PPCLT with 5.07μmperiod,1Dand 2D-PPCLT with 7.76μmand 12.48μmperiod have been successfully fabricated. The effective area is 6mm×6mm
