Abstract
Semiconductor product development procedure is more and more important with the continuous improving of manufacturing process. The upstream and downstream members in design chain can join the new product development procedure for raising the development efficiency, reducing time to market, and increasing the benefits of all the members. In this research, analog IC product development procedure is separated into several standard processes through Design-Chain Operations Reference-model (DCOR-model) released by Supply-Chain Council (SCC) in 2004, and a tree-structure methodology is presented for improving layout step in analog IC product development procedure. Moreover, an automatically systematic layout (ASL) system is constructed for implementing this methodology.
Factually, layout seriously influences the end performance of analog IC product, and to develop analog IC products is really a time-consuming work. Furthermore, doing layout quite depends on designer’s experience and expertise. Therefore, one of the purposes for developing ASL system is to raise the product development efficiency. All possible layout patterns under the tree-structure methodology can be generated by ASL system in just few seconds, and then designer can pick out at least one alternative through alternative filters according to different situations.
At last, an existing analog IC product is chosen as an example, and its layout is re-designed through ASL system. The comparison between the two different layout designs is listed in the following content.
