Abstract
The objective of this paper is to research the direct driven vehicle’s performance which is affected by using super-capacitor. Due to the technical restriction of the conventional Lead-Acid battery, such as vast power output will cause damage to the battery, as well the volume and the weight of the battery are still considerable. Moreover, the super-capacitor could supply much more instantaneous current than the battery when the motor need large current input to produce enough torque.
In this paper, we utilize the characteristic curve by charging and discharging the super-capacitor to build up the equivalent circuit model from the parameter identification, and we use MATLAB/Simulink to establish the complete vehicle model, including the motor model, the battery model, and the super-capacitor model to simulate the starting, the acceleration, and the deceleration by means of switch between the series and parallel mode of the super-capacitor and switch between the super-capacitor and the battery. In conclusion, we verify the accuracy of the super-capacitor model, and we make use of the power management of the direct driven motor by employing the dynamometer.
