Abstract
The decline of Taiwan’s clothing
industry started from the middle of 1980s.
The clothing industry in the counties of
Taipei, Kaoshung and Kiaoli has been
experienced most severe impact. 90% of
clothing manufacturers have moved overseas
for continuing production. Besides Mainland
China, Asian countries are the major
destination of those moved out manufacturers.
50% of clothing manufacturers staying in the
island would have strengthened their
enlargement of domestic market. According
to the survey, 75% of Taiwan middle and
small size clothing manufacturing are still
focusing on exporting business. There are
only 25% of manufacturers concentrating
their business on the domestic market.
51.85% of the company for exporting have
established their overseas manufacturing
factory. U.S.A. is still the main area for
exporting market. 77.8% of manufacturers
export their product to the U.S.A. 80% of the
exporting order comes from the international
importer-exporter. 61% of product are
handled through the wholesaler and selfestablished
sale counters or sales departments
in the domestic market management..
