Abstract
The thermal relaxation process in interacting systems is characterized by transitions between metastable configurations of the entire array. Their rates are identified here for sample small particle arrays and the nonequilibrium initial DC susceptibility /spl chi/(t) is found from a master equation. The function /spl chi/(t) has multiexponential time dependence and may exhibit nonuniform approach to equilibrium.
