Ruthenium complexes with an anthyridine-based ligand. Synthesis, characterization and catalytic activity

Abstract
Abstract Complexation of 2,7‐bis(2‐pyridinyl)‐9‐phenylanthyridine ( 4 ) with [RuCl 2 (CO) 3 (THF)] and [(η 6 ‐ p ‐cymene)RuCl 2 ] 2 provided the mono‐nuclear complex [( 4 )Ru(CO) 3 Cl][RuCl 3 (CO) 3 ] ( 5 ) and the dinuclear complex [( 4 )Ru 2 ( p ‐cymene) 2 Cl 2 ] ( 6 ), respectively. Both complexes have been characterized by spectroscopic, elemental and crystallographic analyses. Complex 6 is an efficient catalyst for the oxidative cyanation of various tertiary arylamines.
