Abstract
The elastic stress distributions in some edge-notched geometries have been estimated from Creager and Paris's and Neuber's expressions. Close to the notch root, these approximate solutions agree well with the finite element results. Further away from the notch, the approximate methods give overestimations. A simple formula derived from Creager and Paris's expression provided accurate stress concentration factor solutions for some edge-notched geometries. © 1986.
