Abstract
The method of converting the data of Geographic Information System into a three-dimensional model represented by X3D(Extensible 3D) was developed in this research. The 3D dynamic simulation is rendering by the time series information of Geographic Information System and the dynamic features of X3D. The developed 3D simulation model is embedded into the software environment of Geographic Information System ArcView. The user could use the interface of Geographic Information Systems to do the X3D simulation.
The simulations of the effect of wave, current on the coastal evolution were done by the developed X3D GIS model respectively. And the combined simulation of the effect wave, current on the coastal evolution was also demonstrated in this research. The model of combining Geographic Information System, numerical computation and X3D simulation is developed to provide dynamic 3D simulation of the coastal evolution is this research.
