Abstract
Some preliminary work on the effect of vanadium on AB2Ti-Zr based alloy has been preformed. It was found that with an V addition, the alloy can absorb more hydrogen as compared with that without V. The electric capacity was improved to over 300 mAh/g. The objective of this project is to study the effects and mechanism of V on the capacity improvement. A series of Ti-Zr based alloys with different V contents was produced, and the crystal structure, microstructure etc. have been studied. It was found that the activating rate, discharge capacity increased as vanadium. It also increased the high rate capability. But it decreased the cycle life because of decreasing chromium.
