Abstract
The spin-resolved electronic structure at the (110) surface of the magnetic alloy (Formula presented) has been studied with spin-polarized inverse photoemission spectroscopy in conjunction with first-principles electronic structure calculations. An unoccupied (Formula presented) Schockley surface state in a bulk band gap is observed that is exchange split by 320 meV, indicating that the topmost surface layer is ferromagnetically ordered. © 2000 The American Physical Society.
