Abstract
This study examines the criticism of the Modernity in Peter Weiss’ Marat/Sade, The Investigation and Discourse on…Viet Nam from Adorno, Bauman and Foucault’s perspectives to point out the spirit of rationality and the power structure that built up the modern society, and to uncover the Modernity’s potential violence. In addition, the thesis discovers how Peter Weiss’ documentary drama rewrote history to resist dominant discourse or change society. Finally, viewing Weiss’ texts as the field of resistance, the study also reveals various facets of them and finds out the possibilities for modern people to resist dominant discourse and eventually liberate from it.
