Abstract
This paper presents a dual-band design of reflectarray antenna by using metallic elements for high energy efficiency at 28 and 60GHz bands. The dual-band operation is created by considering the frequency bands below and above the cutoff frequency of metallic waveguides. This frequency band separation differentiates the waveguide's characteristics as a resonant and non-resonant reflecting elements, respectively at the two bands, respectively. In our examples, the array consists of 20×32 waveguide elements at various locations of open-aperture and with various depths to create the desired phases of elements for equal-phase focusing beam radiation. Our numerical results have shown that high gain and low side lobe levels can be achieved with this design, which are of importance in the potential 5G applications.
