Abstract
Using the emerging digital technologies such as the World Wide Web and the Internet in the educational service filed has received widespread acceptance all over the world. In addition, recent development of Internet-based E-learning suggests extending the distance learning to other media which are more suitable for learners not familiar with computers. In this thesis, we endeavor to design and implement an education system on Interactive Digital TV based on the Multimedia Home Platform standard. The system consists of the following three subsystems: a web-based course material management subsystem for creating and managing the course materials, a personalized course material browsing subsystem enabling learners to browse course material according to their learning progress, and an assessment subsystem for evaluating learning achievement. Our system is flexible and extensible with existing Internet-based E-learning services in course material management, thus improves the interoperability and content reusability. In addition, since being able to review the course materials and take quizzes in an on-line manner, a learner is able to play an active role in our T-learning education system instead of a passive role in tradition T-learning educational systems.
