Abstract
This article investigates the consistency of subject cataloging for Taiwan academic journal
articles of Library and Information Science. We utilize a subject framework to analyze 956
articles of Bulletin of The Library Association of China from No. 1 to No. 65. After
preliminary analyses, we find that the average consistency of main categories is 82.46% and
that of subcategories is 69.82%. The consistencies for respective subcategories are from
59.20% to 74.09%. The familiarities with academic articles and subject framework of the
analyzers have significant impacts on the quality of subject cataloging.
