Abstract
In this study, we measured the C/N
ratio and d 13 C of San-liao-wan, Zai-kong
and Yihju core sediments. Combining with
C/N and d 13 C of the riverine sediments of
Tseng-wen River and Chiku lagoon
sediments as end members, the
environmental change of southwestern
Chianan plain can be clearly understood.
Our results show a very good
correlation between C/N and d 13 C. According to the d 13 C data, this coastal area
went through a period of time that the d 13 C
shift to a heavy value, implying that C4 plant
was an important source of organic matters.
The flourishing of C4 plant indicates that the
climate was relatively arid from early OIS 2
to the early OIS 1. The scattered peaks show
that although the profiles of C/N and d 13 C
have good correlations, there are still some
locally environmental changes.
