Abstract
Monocyte and polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) complement and immunoglobulin receptors were measured in peripheral blood samples obtained from 30 Yu-Cheng (PCB-poisoning) patients and 23 normal human subjects. Erythrocyte-antibody complexes (EA) and erythrocyte-antibody-complement complexes (EAC) were used to detect immunoglobulin and complement receptors respectively. Monocytes and PMNs obtained from patients had lower percentages of cells bearing immunoglobulin and complement receptors. The expression of membrane receptors is associated with cellular activities. Phagocytic cells are responsible for the elimination of the infectious microorganisms. The deficiency of phagocyte cell membrane receptors may be associated with defective resistance to infections found in Yu-Cheng patients. © 1982.
