Abstract
In this work, a series of Dy-doped BiFeO3 (BFO) nanoparticles is prepared by sol-gel method for obtaining the pure phased and leakage-free samples. Measurements of structure, magnetism, dielectricity and magnetoelectricity (ME) effect are carried out. Our results show that both BFO and Dy-BFO nanoparticles show dielectric constants smaller than those of bulk samples, owing to their size confinement. However, the nanoparticles doped with 3% of Dy display the largest ME effect, about 0.8%, which should be related to the doping-induced changes in their crystal and magnetic structures. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2011.
