Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to study the relationship of Taiwan''s banking industry between its technology service innovation and performance. In the past, most literatures researching on banking''s technology service innovation and performance are taking electronic banking as mainly study objects. The research mostly carries on either using case study or the questionnaire method, or individually conducts the empirical study in view of the internet banking or the mobile banking. The thesis is conducting the empirical study to all electronic banking by using econometrics. First of all, researching on the determining factors of providing the electronic banking service. Further studies the relationship of the electronic banking service and its performance. The research material mainly comes from Central Bank, Banking of FSC, TEJ and various banks annual reports. The sample number contains 36 banks, and the research period is from 1994 to 2007.irstly, the thesis studies the determining factors of adopting the electronic banking by using the Logit model. The factors of explanatory variable include the asset scale, establishment time, business type, government law, security and internet number of users, etc. Secendly, using Panel Data model to study the relationship of the electronic banking and the performances. Performance variables include handling charge, market share rate, employee productivity, return on assets, and return on equity.rom the empirical result of the research, new banks primarily focusing on consumer finance are more positively carry on the electronic banking channel services. They use electronic banking channels to enhance revenue and market share. As to governmental bank focusing on enterprise finance, they pay less attentions on electronic banking service. Providing the electronic banking is mainly for the customer service. The empirical study result points out that it may enhance the bank charges income, the market share, and the productivity. However, it is unable to bring remarkable influencing effects on the return on assets, and the return on equity. In addition, the network security is also one of the major factors deciding the electronic banking handling charge. ATM and POS, with high security, could bring higher handling charge income than internet banking with low security.
