Abstract
This study demonstrates a scalable approach for lithium electroplating on copper foil at current densities up to 150 mA cm−2, achieving excellent cycling performance in symmetric lithium cells at 60 mA cm−2. Through the optimization of electrolyte composition and electroplating parameters, uniform solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layers and dense lithium morphologies were obtained, significantly enhancing interfacial stability and suppressing dead lithium formation. Increasing the electroplating capacity to 2 mAh cm−2 extended the cycle life to 700 cycles, underscoring the potential for high-throughput production of thin lithium films for solid-state lithium-metal batteries. These results pave the way for industrial-scale manufacturing of next-generation anodes with high energy density and long-term durability.
