Abstract
There are two parts in this thesis. First, we developed two fluorescent sensors to detect bio-significant molecules such as monosaccharide, derivatives of urea and carboxylic acid. Utilizing hydrogen bond to bind with the guest molecules, these two sensors have special photophysical properties such as charge transfer and proton transfer at excited state. The fluorescence spectra show drastic changes after binding the guest molecules. As a result, we can recognize molecules like monosaccharide, derivatives of urea and carboxylic acid by the changes of fluorescence spectra.
Second, we used reprecipitation methods to synthesize various aqueous organic nanoparticles such as perylene, fluorescein and some polyaromatic compounds, and then characterized their morphology by TEM and SEM. Also, we further investigated their photophysical properties and tried giving some reasonable explanations.
