Abstract
Particulate collection at high temperature and high pressure is important in coal power generation system and incinerate technology. The application of filtrations at high temperature in industry is very usual. The filtration of dust-laden gas in a cross flow granular bed filter was investigated by experiments. The parameters varied in the experiments were the granule size and filtration velocity. Filtration efficiency was decided by cascade impactor. The influence of temperature change was clearly observed and the system efficiency was compared with room temperature condition. When the bed became dirty, a marked change in flow distribution was observed on the outlet side of the filter panel due to the blocking effect of dust deposits around the central section of the granular bed filter. The particle collection efficiencies showed the expected trend of increasing with time. At higher filtration velocities, dependent upon the size of the filter granules, the collection efficiency may decrease with time due to dust re-entrainment.
