Abstract
The Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technique is applied popularly in wireless communications, such as WLAN, UWB, 802.11n etc, . In this thesis , we will discuss how to use window functions to decrease the distortion resulted from frequency mismatch in the UWB system, and then propose new algorithm to immune the effect of the frequency mismatch. In conventional OFDM system, symbol will remove the cyclic prefix (CP) if the rectangular window function is applied. And then, when the signal passes through Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) in the receiver, it will produce sidelobes which results in intercarrier interference (ICI). Thus, in this thesis we will discuss how to design the window function which decrease maximally out of band energy. From the simulation results, we find that the window function which is designed through minimum mean square error (MMSE) algorithm in this thesis performs better than other windows when the carrier frequency offset (CFO) gets worse and worse.
