Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of a new design of W-shaped chiral clefts with C2 symmetry is presented. The molecules are based on the 2,6-diarylbenzoic acid motif. A series of syn/anti isomers are discussed with respect to their symmetry, configurational stability, and suitability for the development of chiral materials. © 1995 Elsevier Science Ltd.
