Abstract
A novel triterpenold, schinarisanlactone A 1, was isolated from the fruits of Schisandra arisanensis. Compound 1 possesses an unprecedented skeleton having a 5/7/7/5/7/5/6/5 -fused octacyclic ring system. The structure of 1 was determined by 2D NMR techniques COSY, HMQC, HMBC, and NOESY and was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Schinarisanlactone A 1 exhibited significant anti-HIV activity.
