Abstract
Studies on damping materials were prepared from two types of materials: the copolymer of urethane acrylate resins(UARs)/2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and urethane acrylate resins/polyurethane(PU) blended by two step or one shot. Two types of urethane acrylate resins: difunctional urethane acrylate (DUA) and monofunctional urethane acrylate (MUA) were synthesized. The effects of different type of diisocyanate, different types of polyols and different molecular weights of polyols in the UARs on the dynamic mechanical properties, and damping behavior were investigated. The results show that the damping ability was enhanced through side-chain length which UARs dangled increased. As the contents of HEMA increased, the glass transition temperture of the copolymer of UARs/HEMA increased. When the content of PU increased, elongation of the blend of UARs/PU increased. UARs/PU by two step exhibit much higher damping properties than UARs/PU by one shot.
