Abstract
Pionization in electron-electron (or electron-positron) colliding beams is studied in detail for the dominant case where the produced pions have nearly equal but opposite transverse momenta. Accurate measurements in this case, without detecting the outgoing electrons, can be used to determine all amplitudes and phases for γγ → π+π-. The results are obtained directly from Feynman diagrams and thus inaccuracies due to Weizsäcker-Williams approximation are avoided. All the formulas are equally applicable to the production of any pair of spinless bosons in electron-electron (or electron-positron) colliding beams. © 1969.
