Abstract
Recent research interests in traditional
Taiwanese dramas have spread to a number
of important areas. Scholarship and research
materials on Taiwanese dramas are found in
a plethora of sources not yet thoroughly
examined and categorized. This project
attempts to collect these materials and build a
solid foundation for the study of Taiwanese
dramas. We have examined the more than
three hundred volumes of "Taiwanese
Documents Series" published by the Bank of
Taiwan. These publications include the
following major documents:
1. Regional records and histories,
2. Official Qing documents on or about
Taiwan, and
3. Journals, prose and poetry, notes, etc.
written by early Taiwanese writers and Qing
officials.
The project is divided into three phrases:
collection of materials, taxonomy and
classification, and scholarly annotations.
The work has been completed and will be
published soon entitled Taiwanese Dramas:
A Guide to Sources.
