Abstract
This thesis is aimed at the design, simulation, and measurement of the AP (access point) antennas used in Wireless LAN, including the discone antenna, printed dipole array antenna and triangular patch antenna. For discone antenna, thorough parametric study is performed to optimize the radiation properties. In design of corporate-fed dipole array antenna, we start from the design of single dipole antenna, and then determine the spacing between elements. The feeding network is based on the quarter wave transformer with corporate-fed. In the design of series-fed dipole array antenna, the feeding network is based on quarter wave transformer with series-fed. Genetic algorithms are also employed to improve the impedance bandwidth of corporate-fed as well as series-fed dipole. Finally, the triangular patches with L-shaped metal line coupler are investigated to enhance.
