Abstract
Purpose: This study presents a novel technique for intraocular lens (IOL) fixation. The technique can be used on single-piece acrylic IOLs and can manage patients who are either with aphakia or with a dislocated IOL. Methods: One end of the Gore-Tex suture is tied into the optic-haptic junction of the IOL. Another end is fixated on the scleral wall. The single-sclerotomy and double-sclerotomy settings can be applied to different situations. Results: Twelve eyes received this procedure. After a follow-up period of up to 20 months, the IOLs were well centered. Conclusion: The technique is a reliable method for scleral fixation of IOLs, which can be applied to the widely used single-piece acrylic IOLs. In the authors' experience, it is reproducible and rarely causes complications.
