Abstract
Intel was founded in 1968 and it became the world’s leading semiconductor company. Intel intensively invests in R&D and manufacturing foundry and is the only chip company in the world that sustains its vertically integrated business model. Mobile market is the fastest growing market in computing and communication. Intel failed to provide chip in mobile market, which is full of low-power ARM processors. These ARM processors power every iPhone and iPad, almost every Android device. In mobile market, the rivals of Intel do not maintain chip manufacturing facility. Does Intel’s capital-intensive, vertically integrated business model can still dominate the new semiconductor industry? As the leading semiconductor company, Intel tends to lead the industry in transforming businesses and takes the lion’s share. This paper will discuss Intel’s core competences and its strong execution capability to reach goal. It has plans to shift paradigm from other processors to Intel Architecture processors in every computing markets.
