Abstract
After the 2016 Meinong Earthquake in Taiwan, the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) and Degenkolb Engineers formed a reconnaissance team to survey the earthquake-damaged buildings. Three district office buildings were investigated during the reconnaissance. Those buildings were constructed according to typical drawings and share a similar structural type. However, the three buildings experienced different levels of damage during the 2016 Meinong Earthquake. To learn lessons from the earthquake, assessment of the seismic performance of the three buildings is needed. For the evaluation of the seismic performance of existing buildings, US engineers usually adopt ASCE/SEI 41-13 provisions. However, the engineers in Taiwan are familiar with the NCREE nonlinear static pushover analysis method to evaluate seismic performance. The objective of this paper is to assess the seismic performance of the three district office buildings using the NCREE approach. Copyright ?
