Abstract
This thesis proposes a new design of cabinet door lifting mechanism and the main concern is the cam-follower mechanism. According to the existing designs surveyed for analyzing the design characteristics, the configuration of a new lifting mechanism is synthesized by kinematic synthesis theorem. The cam shape can be determined by the cam profile synthesis approach, and the kinematic analysis is employed to analyze the kinematic characteristics of the proposed lifting mechanism. The analysis results are verified to ensure the correctness of theoretical calculations. In order to improve the performances of the proposed new lifting mechanism, the optimum design method is applied to obtain a better design parameter set. The parametric design program is also developed for model generation of the lifting mechanism. Finally, the prototype fabrication is manufactured from the generated model. The operation procedure shows that the proposed new lifting mechanism design achieves the desired lifting motion.
