Abstract
This thesis is based on the use of Chiral Vertical Aligned liquid crystal mode to produce single-cell-gap Transflective LCDs. By using the software DIMOS, we simulate the LCD optical performances with various adjustable parameters in order to find the best matched T-V and R-V electro-optic curves(Intensity v.s Voltage curve). This matching process also involves the use of reverse-handed Chiral Vertical Aligned liquid crystals. Response time, viewing angle and the possibility of realizing the designs by using non-contact alignment technology, such as photo-alignment and plasma beam-alignment etc, will also be discussed.
