Abstract
This research analyzed the relationships
between land subsidence and land use
in the Sin-Yi county by employing
spatial analysis methodology and
geographic information system method.
A GIS database was constructed which
contains land use, land subsidence and
related data in the study area. The
suitability and limitation of using aerial
photos as data source were evaluated.
The improvement of data quality is
needed. The result indicated that
inadequate location of human activities
is the main causation of hazard. A study
of environmental perception will be
conducted on the second phase of this
research based on this finding. The
correlation between different land use
types and land subsidence was not
significant. However, a mask effect of
the high precipitation within a short
period of time should be evaluated on
the second phase of this research.
