Abstract
Under the trend of digital convergence, the competition of communication industry is getting bitter. In recent years, manufacturers have launched each one’s brand product based on different operational platform – OSes and standards. Their R&D and marketing mode appear to have competition and cooperation postures. This study tried to probe into the brand strategy alliances and co-opetition relationships of smartphone manufacturing firms, and tried to depict the development movements and product styles in roadmap methodology, in order to clarify the opportunities and challenges of developing smartphones.
This study took three foreign smartphone manufacturers as cases examples, by gathering real competition and cooperation issues in the industry and by inducing technological trend reports, we map the conditions with theoretical discourses and re-depict the technical roadmaps. In this study, we mainly adopt the research materials by ways of gathering and interview. In order to maintain secrecy, all the companies which address the co-opetition strategies are anonymous.
For the technological planning purpose, we finally decide the engagement project of R&D and relevant resources. This research offer references in the aggregate aspect of markets, products and techniques.
