Abstract
This study investigates the effects of signal excitation modes within shielded enclosure components and structural changes on radio frequency interference (RFI). Due to the size limitation of handheld systems, the three-dimensional antenna design has an RFI increase of up to 28 dB as compared with planar antennas. This study also proposed three improvement methods, which show good results. 1. By adjusting the signal excitation mode, the common mode component is suppressed to less than 30 dB of the differential mode component. 2. By reducing the width of opening from 6mm to 2mm, the RFI can achieve a maximum reduction of 40dB. 3. Adding metal in the center of the slot can reduce the CM radiation levels by 23 dB . These design strategies provide significant insights into RFI mitigation.
